CON Represented in US Conferences

Last March, the College of Nursing in Riyadh participated in the thirty-third meeting of the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Representing CON was Dr. Hanem Mohamed ElMawla, Assistant Professor in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Nursing Department, who presented a paper entitled: “Women’s Treatment-Seeking Behavior for Acute Myocardial Infarction: Antecedence and Consequences”. She discussed how Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is one of the most common diseases among women in Egypt. The objective of her study was to examine the effect of knowledge of acute myocardial infarction risk factors and to assess the relationship between women’s treatment-seeking behavior and physiological and physiological outcomes. Furthermore, Dr. Hala Abdelmonem Saied, an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Nursing participated in a conference held in the Pacific Institute of Nursing, Hawaii and presented a study entitled: “Neonatal Outcome of Post-term Pregnancies in Egypt.” The object of her paper was to evaluate the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes among post-term births and had recruited 50 pregnant women for the study. The findings of the study revealed several things among those that post term pregnancies are associated with higher rates of caesarian sections and respiratory distress. Continue Reading →

Standardization of CON Curriculum Plan

In April, a workshop was organized in the College of Nursing – Jeddah by the three colleges of nursing in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (Jeddah – Riyadh – Al Ahsa). The workshop aimed to standardize the curriculum plan and the description of the Nursing study material. Dr. Wafika Suleiman, the Dean of the College of Nursing – Jeddah stated that the importance of this workshop stemmed from the need to standardize the curriculum plan due to the marked expansion of the University in all three areas of the Kingdom (Eastern – Central – Western). The three colleges of nursing are among the first to apply the standardization and this workshop is ample proof that all three colleges are committed to standardizing their curricula to improve the quality of the learning process and syllabus. Admission and Registration

The Deanship of Admissions and Registration at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences announced the start of admission for the Bachelor of Medicine, College of Medicine from Saturday December 4, 2010 to Wednesday January 5, 2011. Moreover, the Medical Education Department in the College of Medicine – KSAU-HS announced the start of registration for the Master’s degree in Medical Education for the second semester of the year 1431 H – 1432 H. On-line registration starts on Saturday December 4, 2010 and finishes on Monday  January 3, 2011. The Colleges of Nursing – Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Ahsa also announced the start of admission for the bachelor degree from December 2, 2010 to Friday December 17, 2010.
