Poster Prize for College of Nursing

Shahad Bin Saeed, Student from College of Nursing, earned the fourth place in the Health Professions Conference 2017 that was held on 23 April 2017 until 25 April 2017 for her outstanding research entitled (The Association between Perceived Social Support And Depression Among Saudi university students after the Death of the Significant Person), and it was supervised by Dr. Ekhlas Al Jamal and Ms. Agnes Monika from College of Nursing. This research was talking about the response to loss through the death of a loved one may elicit an emotional problems such as depression. The importance of support by family, friends, significant others and academic professors at the universities have been considered as the major sources of support for university students. The purpose of this study is to examine the association between perceived social support and depression among university students after the death of significant person at KSAU-HS. Moreover, The Health Professions Conference 2017 which was organized by Deanship of Students Affairs and patronized by His Excellency Dr. Bandar Al knawy, president of the university, Executive Director for Health Affairs in National Guard. It is important to mention that the Health Professions Conference 2017 run for three days and consisted three programs: General program, which reviews several lectures, the latest Requirements for Admission and submission in Saudi Commission for Health Specialties 2018. In addition to research program, which discussed scientific research from the perspective of medical filed and specialized college program (College of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Applied Medical Science). Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery

On the second semester of this academic year 2015/2016 College of Nursing – Riyadh commenced the first postgraduate program. 7 students represent the first batch in Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery. Dr. Haya Al-Fozan, Dean of College of Nursing, emphasized this program was one of the college goals that we were seeking to achieve. Graduates are certified nurse-midwives who are responsible and accountable as primary health care providers to women throughout their life cycle and newborns. They are expected to practice within a health care system that provides for consultation, collaboration or referral as indicated by the client’s needs. The nurse-midwifery is a 2 year master degree program with specialization in midwifery. Students must complete 54 credit hours to be awarded the master in nurse-midwifery. This includes course work as well as clinical rotation work with a preceptor in a variety of subspecialty-related settings and submission of master thesis. Continue Reading →

On January 28th, 2016 College of Nursing hosted Austrade delegation. This visit aims to discuss possible collaboration channels between Saudi healthcare sector and the Australian counterparts. The focus is on building in-house capabilities and skills of medical staff, upskilling existing expertise, in addition, research collaboration in different healthcare areas including nursing. KSAU-HS Graduation

Under the Auspices of Princess Hessa bint Tarrad Al Shaalan, wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University in Riyadh celebrates the graduation of the 6th and 7th batch of KSAU-HS female students on Thursday 6 Jumada II , 1431H Corresponding to 20 May, 2010 in King Faisal Hall in the Intercontinental Hotel, Riyadh. Graduating this year are 214 students from various medical and health sciences specialties, among them 64 higher education graduates with certificates for fellowships, Saudi Board, Master of Public Health and Health Informatics, and Master of Medical Education, 18 will receive an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Associate Degrees in Cardiovascular Technology while 132 students will graduate with a Bachelor in Nursing.   Continue Reading →

KSAU-HS in the International Exhibition for Higher Education (IEHE)

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, His Excellency the Minster of Higher Education Dr. Khaled Al Anqari inaugurated the events of the International Exhibition for Higher Education at Riyadh International Exhibition Center last Tuesday 26, January 2010.  The Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Higher Education from 26-29 January hosted a number of universities and international organizations with a number of participants exceeding 300 from world-class universities such as Oxford and Cambridge from the UK, Yale and Berkeley from the US, Toronto and McGill University from Canada,  Universitat de Barcelona from Spain, Sidney University and The Australian National University from Australia and Tokyo University from Japan. Participating in the IEHE2010 were a number of international higher education institutions and relevant international organizations as well as various Saudi universities, higher education institutes, e-learning institutes and research and study centers that reached 340 representing 30 countries. After the opening ceremony, Dr. Al-Anqari toured the Exhibition and visited many corners such as King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences where he was received by Dr. Bandar Al Knawy the CEO of the National Guard Health Affairs and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences. Dr. Al Knawy explained briefly the upcoming projects for KSAU-HS and the medical cities in the Central, West and East regions as well as the evolution of King Abdullah International Medical Research Center. CON-Riyadh Hosts Girls Summer Camp

On Monday, July 20, 2009, the College of Nursing – Riyadh in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences hosted the 16th girl’s summer camp. The College offered many segments and workshops which won the approval of the students. The visit achieved many educational and academic objectives including explaining the profession of nursing to the girls and giving a brief on how to apply to the College of Nursing. The day’s program included an opening speech to welcome the members of the girl’s summer camp. Noura Bakeer, an intern in CON, gave a brief introduction about the College of Nursing and the nursing profession. Furthermore, Ms. Abeer Al-Ayaf, the head of Admission and Registration in the College of Nursing, talked about the unified electronic admission committees. Afterwards, students attended several workshops on first aid, breast cancer and how to perform self-examinations. Furthermore, they provided information about Swine Flu (H1N1), its symptoms and prevention. The program was concluded by a cultural program entitled “Know Your Personality” presented by Ms. Fatima Jokub in which many guests learned more about their personality through an innovative method used to analyze personalities. Several of the guest students from the camp expressed their gratitude to the College of Nursing for their welcome and all the cultural, scientific and entertaining segments offered. Learning a lot from this experience, one of the students promised that she will join them soon. Finally, Mrs. Nourah Al-Otaibi, the director of the summer camp, expressed her happiness and gratitude for the College and thanked the dean of College of Nursing Dr. Haya Fawzaan and all members of the team for their efforts to make this event a success. Unified Acceptance for Female Students

King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences contributed in a number of unified electronic admission committees for public universities in Riyadh for the academic year 1430/1431H which will start on Thursday 1/8/1430 H for two weeks. The admission’s electronic gateway will close on Wednesday 14/8/1430 H for all disciplines. It is important to note that required personal interviews for college submission will continue through the portal for a period of five days starting from Thursday 1/8/1430 H until Monday 5/8/1430 H. Moreover, interviews for female candidates will be held on from Saturday 10/8/1430 H to Monday 12/8/1430 H. The committee for unified e-admission website designed for public universities in Riyadh held a workshop for guidance councilors in the Ministry of Education in Riyadh. The workshop was held in the College of Education – Humanities in Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University to explain the procedures of unified admission for female students in public universities in Riyadh for the academic year 1430/1431H. The objective of the workshop was to spread awareness among high school seniors about the unified electronic admission, what it means, its objectives, its procedures and its timetable. A presentation was given and pamphlets were handed out to each student containing admission and acceptance information. King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (College of Nursing – Riyadh) will handle replying to the students through the online forum for unified admission in Riyadh. It will respond to any inquires from students regarding the conditions and procedures of the unified admission for the upcoming year.
